SAGAING DIVISION – Monywa People’s Security Organization (PSO) is reported to have captured the robbers who murdered a pregnant woman who was due to give birth in days at Htantawinsat Ward in Monywa on August 10 around 3 p.m.
“The brother-in-law of the victim went out to bring their dogs home. Six unknown, armed men demanded the door be opened. The deceased woman came out unaware of what was happening and was shot dead,” explained an official from Monywa Road Information.
The deceased was 25-year-old Ms. Aye Nyein Thu, who celebrated her first anniversary of marriage on June 1 and was due to give birth to a son on August 13.
The six robbers raided the house and took off with two mobile phones and a motorcycle, according to family friends of the deceased.
Monywa PSO leader Leo said that they have captured all six robbers and are investigating them, adding that they will release a detailed statement soon.
The robbery case has caught attention on social media, and many are also interested in how the robbers were captured within hours.
There are frequent thefts and robberies in Monywa, but as the junta police force is incapable of arresting the criminals, the Monywa PSO has taken charge of investigations and arrests starting early in 2022.
Moreover, the majority of the prisoners released on amnesty by the junta council were criminals, with very few of them being political prisoners, which has been widely criticized by the people.
