SHAN STATE- According to residents, the military council cut off the road leading to Prayers’ Mountain in Mantmai Village by digging up the soil using a backhoe, in Muse Town, China-Myanmar border on December 28.
Residents said that the road leading to the cemetery was also dug up and blocked.
A resident said, “Nobody can go there anymore. While we entered Muse Town, junta troops said they would let us go this time for the last time. No one could pass the area anymore,” he said.
A bus driver also said that the road from the Muse Industry (zone) to Nam Kwong, was also cut off near the Banyan tree in Nam Kwong village, digging up a hole in the ground.
Since last month (November), the road to Mantmai Village Prayers’ Mountain has been covered with barbed wires with signs of landmines warnings attached to them. Militias were reportedly guarding the area.
Last August, in KyuKok (Pansai) Township, the road from Nam Taung village to Mawtaung village on Union Road and Nam Taung – Farfate Road were cut off by the Military Council by digging holes with backhoes and cranes.
