SHAN STATE – Ta Ang Women’s Organization announced on Monday (September 4) that heavy fighting broke out in Se Lang Village, Muse Township, Northern Shan State, damaging civilian homes and more than 2,000 residents have fled their homes.
In Se Lang Village, the military council and the Ta Ang army (TNLA) exchanged heavy fighting, and the residents had to flee and take refuge at the houses of their close relatives, the monasteries and the rest houses. It is reported that more than 2,000 people are fleeing from Minesat, Mankan, Namkat and Shan Villages.
“After the (junta) air strike, the villagers ran away because they were scared. Some of them are staying at the houses of relatives, some are staying in the monastery and some at the village hall. The rice is cooked and sent to them by the villagers. Right now, we need vegetables, dried food as well as rice, oil and salt, They don’t know when they will be able to return,” Ta Ang Women’s Organization shared, quoting a Muse resident.
Because of the heavy casualties among junta council’s army in the fierce battles between TNLA and the terrorist soldiers within August in the neighborhood of Se Lang Village in Muse, the junta army carried out heavy artillery fire and air strikes.
At the end of August, there was no fighting in nearby villages in Muse Township as well as in the area of Nam Phekka Village, but the military council fired heavily with heavy weapons, the Ta Ang Women’s Organization reported. As a result of those shellings, two civilians died and six were injured.
