KAREN STATE – The junta forces deployed on a military mission in Yay Twin Kone Gyi Village, Mu Township, killed a civilian, buried his dead body, went on to rampage in 76 houses and destroyed them, as said by the Karen National Union (KNU) Central Executive Committee.
On July 2, the junta forces came into Yay Twin Kone Gyi Village after firing heavy artillery into the village and left the village on July 11.
After the junta forces left the village, on July 12, Battalion 8 of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and its allies went into the village and cleared the rampage created by the junta forces. During ten days, the junta forces were found out to have gone on rampage in 76 houses of local people and looted the civilian properties. A house was torched down and an 8-year-old mentally disabled Mr. Aung Zaw Htay was killed and his body was buried by the junta forces.
On July 13, as the junta forces fired heavy artillery from Gamone Kyaw to the villages in the KNU-Mu administrative region, four villagers from Banlung Village and one from Kyauk Hpaung Village were wounded.
3,335 civilians from villages such as Zahar Village, Yay Twin Kone Lay Village and Kyeyoe Village are said to be fleeing for their lives, as announced by the Karen National Union Central Executive Committee.
