MYANMAR – According to the Myanmar Women’s Union, a total of 44 women were abducted by the terrorist junta council across the country in May.
On average, at least one woman was captured per day in May. Most of those abductees are from Mandalay. Out of the total of 44 abducted women, 13 are from Mandalay Division, followed by 10 in Tanintharyi Division.
The rest are from Yangon, Bago, Magway Region, Sagaing, Ayeyarwady divisions, and Karen and Mon states.
In addition to this, the Myanmar Women’s Union claimed that 29 women were killed by the atrocious junta forces in May.
It was reported that those women had been killed by the junta’s airstrike attacks, arson raids, gunfire, and artillery attacks. More than 3,500 women have been captured since the military coup on February 1, 2021, until the end of May 20, 2023.
