MON STATE – A responsible person from the secondary chief of operation department , Sub-district 3, Southern Military Region said that junta forces fired heavy weapons at the alliance forces of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and People’s Defence Force (PDF) inspecting at the Mawlamyine-Ye-Dawei Road.
The alliance force column of KNLA and PDF inspected the motor vehicle traffic from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at two separate points on the Mawlamyine-Ye-Dawei Road section of the No. 8 Pyidaungsu Highway between Ye Township and Thanphuzayat Township on Tuesday (June 20).
While KNLA Battalion 27 and PDF alliance force column were carrying out territorial control along the Mawlamyine-Ye-Dawei Road at about 11:30 a.m., junta artillery battalion 317 fired five rounds of 81 mm artillery and three of them landed and exploded in a rubber farm owned by civilians.
The revolutionary forces arrested four junta-related people while inspecting along the Pyidaungsu Highway on June 18 and are working to charge them.
KNLA Battalion 27 released an announcement on June 10 stating that they will be inspecting on said section of the road, requesting the motor vehicles travelling on Mawlamyine, Mudon, Ye, Thanphyuzayat, Dawei and Myeik Roads to comply with the inspections, to not transport items and personnel related to the junta council and to not travel together with junta troops, and the vehicles of other Ethnic Armed Organisations (EAO) to also comply with the inspection.
The secondary chief of operation department , Sub-district 3, Southern Military Region stated that KNLA and PDF alliance forces will regularly inspect along the No.8 Pyidaungsu Highway as mentioned in the announcement and that the travelling civilians can continue to travel safely without concerns by following the stipulated points in the announcement.
