SAGAING DIVISION – Locals reported that the nefarious junta council had cut-off telecommunications in Mawlaik Township and launched airstrike and artillery attacks in the villages.
On May 18, the terrorist junta council had blocked telecommunications services in Mawlaik Township, and bombed the villages with fighter jets and also fired heavy weapons into the villages from the Dipinkara Pagoda.
At the present time, tens of thousands of residents from the villages of Nyaung Wun, Nyaung Tha Pyay, Kyar Inn, Thar Nan Taw, Taung In, Taung Twin, Kan Htu, Oke Hpo, Htan Taw, Nyaung Kone and Htan Pin Kone as well as villages from the lower land in the eastern bank of Chindwin River, had been forced to leave their homes to save their lives.
“Currently, internet and telecommunications services have been blocked by the atrocious junta council. The artillery shells landed at Thar Nan Taw Village. The junta’s fighter jets also indiscriminately bombarded. The villages were reportedly not destroyed by those attacks. The terrorist junta’s air forces launched aerial bombardments between 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m., in the afternoon over the surrounding areas of Taung In, Thar Nan Taw and Taung Twin Villages,” said a local.
During the battle, around 30 of the murderous junta forces with five military trucks reportedly set two artillery systems on the mountain of Dipinkara Pagoda and fired at the villages.
The residents had been forced to run away from their home due to the fighting, junta’s artillery and airstrike attacks, and the fighting had stopped for a while due to the heavy rain, according to locals.
