KACHIN STATE – A military source said that the fighting between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the Junta Council is continuing today (May 13th) in Mansi township and Momauk township in Kachin State.
A military source said today (May 13th) about the military situation in the Kachin region that “the battle in Mansi and Momak is fierce.” In addition, it is still investigating the details of the situation.
After the KIA captured Mansi and Momauk police stations on May 7th, the junta council forces in Momauk were attacked and cleared on May 8, and the city was controlled by the KIA. After that, on May 9th, the KIA launched an offensive to capture the Light Infantry Battalion (437), the junta council army that remained in the area of the city. The battle intensified for 5 days, from May 9th to May 13th.
“The KIA has been fighting the LIB 437 fiercely since 7:00 a.m.,” a Kachin military news source wrote in Kachin language on social media this morning about the Momauk battle.
In Mansi township, after the police station was taken over, the fighting between the KIA and the Junta Council continued in the city.
Yesterday’s news from the region said that the fighting in Mansi was intense and people’s homes were damaged by fire. It is said that the military council troops who have taken over the police station have entered the houses of the people in the city and are fighting with the joint forces of KIA and PDF.
The KIA has also been attacking the Namkham military council camp in Tanai township since May 11th.
