KACHIN STATE – KIA comrades captured the Ganhtak junta camp in Mansi Township on Friday morning (April 5), according to three military sources.
Recently, the KIA has captured numerous junta camps in Mansi Township, and Ganhtak camp is one of them. The camp is located on the Mandalay – Banmaw Road Section. “Many junta soldiers fled,” said one source.
Another source reported that the KIA captured the Ganhtak camp of the junta infantry battalion – 602, based in Shwegu Town, which has around 80 troops.
The Ganhtak camp is about nine miles away from Mansi Town and serves as a junction for Mansi – Namkham, Mansi – Mabane, and Mansi – Mandalay Roads, making it strategically important for the military.
On April 3, the KIA initiated an attack on the camp and captured it after three days. “KIA comrades began the attack on April 3. Although they almost captured the camp, the junta council conducted airstrikes and counterattacks for three days,” said another source.
The number of junta casualties remains unknown. In the last week of March, junta troops from IB – 15 collaborated with Ganhtak village.
On March 24, the KIA easily seized the Lwam Kham Strategic Camp and Dawt In Kha junta camps in Mansi Township, along with other camps in Mine Khaung Village, as junta soldiers fled.
On March 20, junta soldiers abandoned their Madeyan camp in Mansi Township, which was subsequently set ablaze by the KIA.
Before commencing their operation on March 7, the KIA had already seized strategic and frontline camps from the junta, including Man Wain Gyi, Kite Htak, and Si Kham Gyi camps.
