BAGO DIVISION – According to the locals, seven junta council police have defected Myitkyoe region police station in Waw Township, Bago Division, in the first week of December.
It was known that seven junta council police including Surveillance Officer, Lieutenant Sergeant Soe Lwin, Private Aung Moe Win, Private Myo Min Tun defected on separate days.
A Waw local mentioned that “they (police) didn’t defect on the same day. Surveillance Officer Soe Lwin defected first. Following that, they defected alone or in pairs.”
Those police reportedly defected without their weapons and it is said that the junta council troops searched in Myitkyoe Village and nearby villages in the days following their defection.
According to the revolutionary forces, those junta council defectors didn’t enter the legal fold under the revolutionary forces.
There are only around ten police in Myitkyoe Police Station. As more than 20 soldiers were deployed to that police station, a total of 30 junta council servants (the combination of police and soldiers) were stationed there.
The junta council reinforced its troops in the villages on the river bank including Myitkyoe, Latpan, Thare Thamein, Ahnyarsu and Sinywar Villages after KNLA (Karen National Liberation Army) and the allied revolutionary forces attacked Thare Thamein Police Station on November 27.
