KACHIN STATE- It was reported that the workers from Myanmar Railway Department who joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) and refused to work under the junta regime were notified to be removed from staff housing or the compound by June 15.
The CDM railway staff were ousted from the staff housing in February 2022, a year after the coup.
Some CDM staff have already vacated to another place, but some were still left due to social and financial difficulties, stated a CDM railway staff.
“It’s been a while since the regime forces notified us for evacuation, allegedly intruding on public property. Some CDM members had already left, but approximately thirty remain. These people are not trespassers but CDM staff. They simply wanted to remove the CDM members,” said the informer.
The CDM railway staff were pressured to be removed from the staff housing several times. More than eighty members had already left the place, stated a CDM staff member.
The Kachin State’s spokesperson and Minister of Social Workers, Relief, and Resettlement, Mr. Win Ye Tun, had been tried to reach by the media regarding this matter, but there hadn’t been any response.
