KACHIN STATE – Residents told the media that a battle between the KIA and the Military Council troops took place near Bala Minhtin Bridge, Myitkyina City last Thursday evening (May 9).
On May 9, at around 2:00 p.m., a battle broke out between the KIA and the Military Council troops near Bala Minhtin Bridge. It is reported that the KIA-led revolutionary forces attacked the military council security gate camp at Bala Minhtin Bridge.
“There were sounds of heavy weapons and small weapons. I could also see smoke. The battle seemed fierce. At the moment, traffic in that direction is jammed. Now the sound has been silenced,” said a resident of Myitkyina.
Military council army, police and other departments often conduct inspections at Bala Minhtin Bridge, and the current fighting may have been an attack on the military council’s security gate. Residents of Myitkyina town said that they saw some military vehicles going down towards Bala Minhtin Bridge area from Myitkyina.
