INDONESIA- The ASEAN Public Forum announced that Myanmar’s military is a terrorist group that threatens the security and stability of the region as it commits genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.
This was announced by the ASEAN Public Forum held from September 1 to 3 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Myanmar Military is considered a terrorist group for committing genocide and war crimes, and we want to honor the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the fight for freedom and justice, as stated in the announement.
The action of junta council to take power over the country has not been succeeded and the struggle of Burmese people to achieve Democracy is the ray of hope for the entire Southeast Asian region.
As of the first September, 602 women and 4,029 civilian activists have been killed as a result of protests against the military council’s coup d’état and this unjust and oppression must be rejected and responded deeply.
The ASEAN Public Forum also called for international organizations to established formal relationships with legal stakeholders including NUG, NUCC, ERO, and civil society and
immediate support of emergency humanitarian assistance to displaced persons through these organizations.
It is also stated that people of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, and Vietnam are together with Myanmar people who are facing too many challanges such as unity and working under the chain of command, in addition to democratic issues.
