MYANMAR – The Canada Embassy announced that it will work together with its international allies to continue issuing more sanctions on the Myanmar junta including sanctions on the import of jet fuel.
The statement also mentioned that the Canadian Parliamentary Secretary stated that Canada is working with its allies to restore justice, human rights and responsibility in Myanmar, including the imposing on sanctions on the military.
Parliamentary Secretary Robert Oliphant, representing the Canada Foreign Minister, conveyed the message to the National Unity Government (NUG) Minister of Foreign Affairs Zin Mar Aung during their online meeting on July 13.
Canada reportedly stated that it will continue working on the responses to Myanmar and Rohingya affairs, including supporting the democracy activists.
Canada has first imposed sanctions on the junta regime’s Myanma Foreign Trade Bank (MFTB) and Myanma Investment and Commercial Bank (MICB) that were sanctioned by the United States in the third week of June.
Following the 2021 military coup, Canada has announced seven sanctions on the Myanmar junta that imposed sanctions on 95 individuals and 158 organisations, according to Global Affairs Canada.
