SINGAPORE – According to the Minister of the Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment of the National Unity Government (NUG), Mr. Tin Tun Naing, NUG is carrying on to take Thailand’s PTTEP company to the Singapore court.
The minister mentioned this at the grand opening of the Spring Development Bank. PTTEP is working in the oil and energy business in Myanmar by collaborating with the Myanmar junta council.
“We are not suing PTTEP, we are just directly applying the dispute at the Arbitration Tribunal in Singapore. It’s not a lawsuit. We applied directly to the Arbitration Tribunal and the process is still going on, still valid. But, the petition has not yet been submitted to the court. The necessary intermediate processes to submit are still going through. So, we will continue working for the dispute to be decided as we initially intended and it is under the process. If the court accepts the application, we will announce it to the media and the civilians,” Minister Tin Tun Naing explained.
It was known that the National Unity Government had sent an official demand letter regarding the Yadanar Project to PTTEP which is doing business by collaborating with the coup council, warning that if they (PTTEP) don’t respond within 30 days, NUG will take legal action by formally requesting to the Arbitration Tribunal in Singapore but PTTEP did not reply.
NUG stated that the revenues from the Yadanar Project is supporting the coup council to murder the Myanmar civilians. Although NUG had already issued the warning to the companies not to pay the revenues from the petrol and oil, PTTEP didn’t comply.
The coup council receives between 90 and 100 million US dollars as revenue from the petrol and oil projects, per month, with the most revenues coming from the Yadanar Project.
