KAREN STATE – The Supreme Headquarters of Karen National Union (KNU) reported on April 18 that The Revolutionary Forces intercepted and blocked the junta’s Aung Zeya column heading to Myawaddy Town, in order unable to move on their operations.
“The atrocious junta launched state-level military operations under the name of “Aung Zeya” to regain Myawaddy Town, and is continuously attacking along the way after the Revolutionary Forces combated and acquired the junta’s last remaining Infantry Battalion – 275 in Myawaddy Town,” stated the Supreme Headquarters of KNU.
KNU said that the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), Karen National Defence Organisation (KNDO), and People’s Defence Force (PDF) have cut off the terrorist military council’s operations under the name “Aung Zeya” to regain Myawaddy Town, so that the junta column cannot move on.
“The terrorist junta army launched artillery and airstrike attacks over the civilian areas and/or military targets along their way, killing and injuring the civilians and also losing their belongings,” said KNU.
It was said that the junta suffered casualties and its military vehicles, including armored vehicles could not move forward and stopped at the foothills of the western part of the Daw Na mountain range, due to those interceptions.
