KAREN STATE – KNU (Karen National Union) Central announced that the terrorist junta council has arrested and imprisoned the battalion commander and the deputy commander of light infantry battalion (LIB) 2 who retreated without order during the battle at Lat Khat Taung Hpayar Hill and Tower Tine Camp in Myawaddy Township.
KNLA (Karen National Liberation Army) Brigade 6 and allied forces, led by Captain Da Baw attacked and captured Lat Khat Taung Hpayar Hill and Tower Tine Camp, two strategically important outposts of the junta council, at around 5 a.m. on July 21. A large number of junta troops were said to be killed and a huge amount of weapons and ammunition was also seized.
Around 60 junta troops from junta LIB 2 and 118 were reportedly stationed at the two camps and the Dupalaryar District News and Information stated, quoting Captain Da Baw, the operation command of KNLA Cobra Column, that the junta council charged Battalion Commander Arkar Aung and Deputy Commander Kyaw Thu Maung of LIB 2 for insubordination and imprisoned them in Kyaikhto Prison, Mon State, as they retreated without order during the battle.
During the battle where the two outposts were captured, one communication equipment, sixteen 60mm shells, six claymores, nine AT mines, two jammers, two mine detectors, one machine gun, two 60 mm mortars, nine 40 mm shells, four G3 cartridges, two MA cartridges, eight military hats, three RPG accelerators, one RPG shell, nearly two thousand 7.62 bullets and more than three hundred 5.56 bullets were reportedly confiscated by resistance forces.
