KAREN STATE – After the junta council’s Myawaddy District Police Station was attacked with drones, junta responded with airstrikes and heavy artillery attacks on Letkhat Mountain base, captured by revolutionary forces.
Junta forces reportedly carried out three aerial bombings and endless heavy artillery fire on the Letkhat Mountain base on September 4, suspecting that the drones that launched the attack on the police station on September 3 came from said base.
“These days, they used aerial attacks, heavy artillery attacks and would also open fire from the base (of the mountain) at random,” a military news source commented regarding the situation at Letkhat Mountain.
These junta attacks had damaged three religious sites on the mountain but there have been no casualties among the defence forces.
Meanwhile, junta propaganda channels claimed that female junta pilots bombed the villages of Maekanae, Kwinkalay and Myitta Linmyaing in Myawaddy Township with SU30 fighter jets.
A resident of Myawaddy reported that the junta council has increased security at the main roads and junctions of Myawaddy as well as the junta offices after the drone attack on the district police station.
Karen National Union (KNU) had announced that the September 3 drone attack on the police station killed five junta staff including the general administration officer for Myawaddy District and injured eleven.
