MAGWAY DIVISION – According to the Spring Revolution Force – Myaing Township, the junta troops arrested two residents of Kankalay Village, Myaing Township, and reportedly stole nearly 20 phones and other civilian properties from the village.
Nearly 70 strong junta troops entered the village of Kankalay at around 7 a.m. on July 21 and arrested the two villagers, Mr. Thein Tun and Mr. Zaw Tint, who are in their forties.
“The household registers and national registration cards (NRCs) of the houses they entered were confiscated and also food, rice, oil, salt, and other dry rations including soft drink bottles are looted from the houses and some shops. There are many houses in Kankalay Village and the locals had to flee so suddenly that their properties, including phones and valuable items, that were left behind were looted by the junta troops,” said Mr. Zooey from Myaing Township Spring Revolution Force.
The situation surrounding the arrestees and the subsequent circumstances is still being investigated.
After stealing the villagers’ belongings, at around 10:00 a.m., the junta forces re-entered Thayetkan (Pyu village) where they are stationed.
They have been in Thayetkan Village since Thursday (July 20). Thayetkan is only 900 meters away from Kankalay Village. The junta troops used to enter Kankalay Village before but many houses in the village were broken into this morning,” Mr. Zooey continued.
At the moment, the local defence forces are clearing the area but the residents have not yet re-entered Kankalay Village.
