MYANMAR – According to the National Unity Government, knowledge sharing sessions have been conducted for more than 8,000 local residents in 23 townships on reducing civilian casualties and improving community resilience. It has been released by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
The Ministry is conducting advanced training on reducing civilian casualties and improving community resilience. Currently, humanitarian officers from the 23 townships that attended the training are conducting secondary trainings on the ground according to the respective townships, and they have been able to share knowledge with 8,036 local people during the 82 training sessions.
In December 2023, a 3-day training course on “Civilian Casualty Reduction and Community Disaster Resilience Promotion” was held in Sagaing Division, Magway Division, Kachin State, Chin State and Karenni State.
The course included lessons such as air defense and prevention against heavy weapons combined with training exercises, providing awareness about the dangers of military weapons and chemical weapons, including landmines, first aid methods in situations of armed conflict, psychosocial empowerment program and Safety for Humanitarians.
According to reports from the ground, the terrorist junta council used aerial bombardments 583 times on the villages where innocent people lived, killing 897 people and 76 religious buildings and 52 schools were destroyed. The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management announced that 627 children under the age of 18 and 1,017 women were among the dead.
Due to the war crimes committed by the terrorist army, the Ministry has advised that each individual citizen must be aware of measures to secure their location and reduce damage and make necessary preparations.
