YANGON DIVISION – The junta declared that Twantay People’s Defence Force (PDF) members were the culprit of the gold shop robbery in North Okkalapa Township, but this was just an allegation to destroy the image of PDF in the revolution, stated Bo. Twantay, the officer in charge of Twantay PDF.
“The junta council is oppressing the activists and locals of Yangon in many ways since the city dwellers (in the southern district) are supporting this revolution strongly. I think that they want to discredit this fact and mislead the public just by the fact that some of the captured culprits were residents of Twantay Township,” said the PDF officer.
The junta’s media reported that the culprits of the Myat Maung Sein gold shop robbery testified that the Twantay PDF leaders, Bo. San Shay (aka Ko Htet) and Mr. Chan Myae Aung, had provided them with guns.
Therefore, PDF Twantay issued an explanation regarding that matter on June 22.
Twantay PDF clarified that the people arrested in the robbery were not their members and the junta’s claim that the PDF leaders gave them weapons to commit robberies is just a misleading accusation to destroy the public image of the resistance force in the town.
Every member, who is in Twantay PDF, has a member code number from the Yangon People’s Defence Force Organization. The detainees didn’t have any membership codes from either Twantay PDF or any Yangon-based resistance force,” stated Bo. Twantay.
