RAKHINE STATE – The terrorist junta council attacked Mrauk U Town by dropping high-destructive bombs with jets starting from 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday (December 26), forcing the local people to flee, according to a Mrauk U resident.
There have been intense battles since the initial attack on Mrauk U junta police station and artillery hill by the Arakan Army (AA) on December 24 morning.
Since then, the terrorist junta soldiers have started attacking with heavy weapons against the civilian villages and Mrauk U downtown. Four civilians have been killed and at least eight were injured on December 24 and 25 due to the junta council’s artillery shooting.
Additionally, antiques were damaged as a result of the junta force’s heavy weapon firing on the Mrauk U Historical Museum on December 25. Moreover, the junta council initiated using air strikes on December 26, the third day of Mrauk U battle.
The Interim Heritage Conservation Commission of the National Unity Government (NUG) stated that they will work to take action against the junta council for their attack and destruction on the Mrauk U Historical Museum, which houses the ancient cultural heritage of the Arakan ethnic group.
Similarly, the Arakan Army (AA) announced on December 25 that they will respond effectively to the junta council that intentionally destroyed the historical heritage of the Arakan people.
The damage caused by the air strike on December 26 evening is still being investigated.
