KAREN STATE – The junta council continues to keep the Thailand – Myanmar Border Gate and No. 1 and No. 2 Friendly Bridges closed, according to businessmen from Myawaddy.
Despite the temporary retreat of KNLA – PDF joint forces from Myawaddy Town on April 23, the junta council persists in keeping the bridges closed even after three days.
“No. 1 and 2 bridges are still closed. Although passage is permitted from Mae Sot, trucks cannot pass through. BGF troops are stationed in Myawaddy Town, but there are no junta troops. The town remains quiet. Last night, the junta council conducted airstrikes at Swal Taw Hill, Laekaykaw, and Lat Khat Hill,” reported a businessman based in Myawaddy.
Junta reinforcements are attempting to pass through the base of Dawna Hill, and the bridges will remain closed until junta council soldiers arrive in Myawaddy.
“The junta council may keep the border gate closed and halt trading until their troops arrive in Myawaddy. Currently, BGF troops are in control of the town,” added a source from Myawaddy.
Currently, IDPs who had sought refuge in Thailand have returned to Myawaddy, and the Thai government has closed all IDP camps.
