SAGAING DIVISION – The National Unity Government (NUG) Ministry of Women, Youth and Children Affairs (MOWYCA) is said to have provided assistance to the displaced victims of junta arson in Pale Township, Yinmabin District on March 10, according to Pale Township Women, Youth and Children Affairs Team.
An officer from Pale Township Women, Youth and Children Affairs Team, a leader of People’s Administration Body (PAB) and the humanitarian affairs officer are said to have provided 60,000 Kyats each to 34 women from Mwaetone Village who are victims of junta arson.
“These women are from a village that has been torched three times (by the junta forces) since the start of the revolution. They are still unable to rebuild their homes. We provided support to the woman from each household who had their homes torched,” said Ms. Ei Thu Thu Maung, the officer for Pale Township Women, Youth and Children Affairs Team.
She explained that Mwaetone Village, set on fire by the junta forces, had a total of 240 houses and 220 of them were burned down by junta terrorists. The residents of the village are still unable to rebuild their homes and are currently living in temporary shelters.
There are around 800 displaced people from the village and they are working as farm hands and other odd jobs at nearby villages.
Ms. Ei Thu Thu Maung added that the Pale Township Women, Youth and Children Affairs Team is providing assistance within their means to the fire victims, displaced people and pregnant women and also in the health and education sectors.
