SAGAING DIVISION – Ms. Phyo Phyo, a senior CDM nurse from Yinmabin District Battalion 12, said that since there are no healthcare workers in Yinmabin Township, the residents’ health care is being taken care of by PDF medical team nurses.
“We only provided treatment for the battalion at first. Lately, we have been providing treatment to villages where there are no medical personnel. Since the beginning of the treatment, we have been using medicines provided by the battalion,” said Ms. Phyo Phyo.
Locals often suffer from seasonal illnesses such as flu, runny nose and cough in children. The elderly have diabetes, high blood pressure and middle-aged people are being treated for bodyaches resulting from cutting wood.
Last April, 68 local residents, one maternity patient and 12 PDF members were treated by the Yinmabin PDF medical team, providing health care to a total of 81 patients.
The team has been providing healthcare services since August, 2022 with three PDF nurses.
At present, it is difficult to transport the medicine needed to provide health care to the locals, and the amount of donations to buy medicine has also decreased, she said.
“We have been providing free medical treatment since the beginning. Later, the money spent on medical expenses increased. It was only in the last 3 months that (people) contributed as much as they could. There are also people who cannot afford it. If there are more donors, we can also afford more ammunition and weapons for the camp,” she added.
As nurses and medical corps are providing treatment in the battalion as well as to the nearby family members of revolutionary forces and the people in villages, in addition to providing free treatment to those injured in the frontline guerrilla battles.
