SAGAING DIVISION-According to the official, the 11th Battalion of Yinmabin District, the Black Leopard Force is cultivating crops for food.
Since the beginning of the revolution, the people have helped and supported the rations needed by the battalion. When people face difficulties surviving, the battalion cultivates the crop not only for food but also for ammunition, with the intention of not being a burden for the people.
“Comrades’ strengths are strong. If we have enough food as a battalion, we will not receive food donations from the people. If we don’t receive donations, it can reduce the burden on people. Moreover, we cultivate with the intention to buy weapons and ammunition,” a Black Leopard Force official said.
More than six acres of rice and four acres of sesame plantations have been planted. One acre of vegetable plantations has ridge gourd, string bean, water convolvulus, tomato, roselle, gourd, pumpkin, and eggplant.
“For food, we dried eggplants and roselle. We cook them when food is scarce. Our comrades get annoyed by eating all the time, and it’s not a fresh crop, so it’s not nutritious. Thus, we grow in order to have enough food and nutrition,” said comrade Khaing Khaing.
It started planting vegetables in October 2021, when the local defense force was formed, and rice and sesame seeds were also planted in late June 2023.
The 11th battalion of Ma Pin District has a section for planting crops, weeding, pulling out seedlings for transplantation, harrowing, watering, and picking in order to ensure food security.
