RAKHINE STATE – The Three Brotherhood Alliance announced on January 6 that every junta soldier at Taungshay Hill Tactical Camp in Kyauktaw Township surrendered to the Arakan Army (AA) at around 9 p.m. on January 6 and that details will be announced later.
In addition, the Three Brotherhood Alliance also urged the junta officers from the tactical hills in Rakhine State under attack by AA to make decisions fast and surrender.
It is informed that the 72nd day of the operation ended in great condition as AA continued its attacks on the remaining targeted junta bases and that the fighting was fierce the entire day as AA clashed against the junta reinforcements that were sent via waterways in Pauktaw Town.
Similarly, AA is said to be launching offensives to capture the main defense bases of the junta council in Paletwa Town including Military Operations Command (MOC) 9, two frontline headquarters of Division 11 as well as the remaining junta camps at Meewa Tactical Hill at the border of Paletwa and Kyauktaw while the junta camps were said to have fired heavy artillery into the vicinity of Paletwa Town the entire day.
The junta council, no longer able to send reinforcement on the ground in Ramree, Kyaukphyu, Manaung, Gwa and Thandwe Townships, had turned to sending reinforcements via the waterways, significantly relying on water routes in the recent days.
In addition, AA informed that the junta council has blocked off the transportation routes of the civilians in the several towns of Rakhine State still under its control while the junta soldiers at the remaining gate camps have been oppressing and bullying the civilians.
The mass surrender of junta troops from Taungshay Hill Tactical Camp to AA on January 6 is the second mass surrender of junta troops following the surrender of over 4,000 junta soldiers including six brigadier generals in Laukkai, northern Shan State on January 4.
