RAKHINE STATE – According to the locals, the chairman of Rakhine Women Network (RWN), Ms. Nyo Aye, and some youths were abducted by the junta council troops on the evening of August 15.
The family members of Ms. Nyo Aye mentioned that the police and some people in mufti had come and abducted Ms. Nyo Aye. Her family members have lost contact with her until now.
“The junta council servants had come and abducted her. It was known that she was detained at no.1 police station. We don’t know why she was being abducted. Now, we are preparing to deliver the medications for my mother. It was known that some people were also abducted along with my mother,” said a family member.
Some Rakhine youths and Ms. Nyo Aye commemorated the Rakhine rice crisis day on August 13.
The family members and the locals assumed that they were being abducted due to the commemoration of the Rakhine crisis day.
No.1 police station in Sittwe town which abducted them (Ms. Nyo Aye and some youths) didn’t reply to any questions.
The total number of the abductees including Ms. Nyo Aye was still under investigation and it was still unknown how the junta council treated them.
