YANGON DIVISION – The junta council has instructed the township and ward administration teams to fulfill the conscription quota by township in Yangon Division, shared a source close to the Yangon Division junta council.
Conscripted youths were summoned for medical examination on March 28 but some of them fled and in response, the junta council is said to have ordered to find immediate replacement for them.
“If the determined number (of conscripted youths) cannot be sent by township, by ward, they (junta council) threatened to fire, transfer or punish each (administration) level. In some townships, there have been cases of young people getting abducted at their homes because they couldn’t fulfill the quota. The ward administration officers would lead and abduct the people on the street even,” said the above-mentioned source.
On March 27 evening in Thamine Myothit Ward No. 1 of Mayangone Township, the administration officer, police and thugs took away 12 young people including a father of three from their homes with summon letters for military duty.
In addition on March 28, conscripted young people from all townships were gathered for medical examination then forcibly dragged into the army, according to junta sources.
“Medical exams were done at Mingaladon Orthopaedic Military Hospital and Bayintnaung interrogation center. They were immediately sent to the military training center after that,” explained a junta source.
Although the terrorist junta council has publicly announced that the conscription will only begin at the end of April, in reality, they are already conscripting en masse at the end of March.
