YANGON DIVISION – According to the locals, SAC (State Administrative Council) forces have been patrolling by tanks in the immediate vicinity of Yangon Region Administrative Council in Ahlon Street, Yangon since 20th November.
Someone affiliated with the junta council said that the SAC forces patrol by two tanks and a cruiser near the council office along Ahlon Street in Dagon Township to demonstrate their military strength as a parade.
He elaborated, “The junta governmental offices are are warned of being on alert for the attacks by the revolutionary forces and the junta takes extra care to prevent the telegrams from being leaked. CCTV surveillance cameras are installed inside the offices. The patrolling is just carried out for propaganda purposes of reassuring their staff and used as a means of displaying their military might and readiness for war.”
A local affiliated with the office explained that the armed forces of certain regiments under the command of Yangon Region Military Command and Yangon Region Police office cooperate in patrolling.
He added, “There are the joint patrolling done by armed forces and police forces, but certain patrolling is done by armed forces alone. I’m not in a position to reveal where exactly they do so.”
The incidences of forced conscriptions done by junta forces have recently occurred in Yangon and some youths are abducted with the intention of demanding a ransom of over a hundred thousand kyats to have them released.
Since the junta’s in-town patrolling by tanks was initiated in Bago on 7th November, at least 18 local youths have been arrested.
