YANGON DIVISION – All the people who rent houses and those who live in dormitories in the townships of Yangon were reportedly pressured to provide detailed personal information to the junta administration offices.
The junta council had announced that the people who live in rented houses and dormitories in Mingaladon, Hlaing Thar Yar, Shwe Pyi Thar, South Dagon, North Dagon, and East Dagon townships will have to send a complete resume to the administration bodies under the junta council starting in May and those who lied about their personal information will be taken action against.
“The junta council told us to provide photos, national registration cards, relatives, siblings, and professions. They said that they were going to put those who lied in jail. We have to fill out the information even if we don’t want to. I don’t know why they asked us to send these,” said a worker from the Mingaladon industrial zone who’s living in a dormitory.
The people of Hlaing Thar Yar were also forced to do the same, and it was rumored that the information was for the election that will be held by the terrorist junta council.
Asking for detailed personal information from innocent people who have not committed any crime is invading privacy and human rights, stated an activist who has been helping the workers from Hlaing Thar Yar.
