YANGON DIVISION – The terrorist junta has officially increased the bus fare price in Yangon Bus Service (YBS) up to 400 MMK per person, starting on January 31, according to the residents of Yangon.
“Starting today (January 31), YBS buses will be increased by 400 MMK per person from any bus-stop. It was the same amount, 400 MMK, either it is all long trip or one stop away. The increase will officially start today,” said an employee of YBS bus line.
A resident of Yangon said that the grassroots who go to work in Yangon have to take at least two transits to get to work, and the bus fare will cost 1,600 kyats per day, causing more hardship for the grassroot level people.
“Wages have not increased. I get off work at Pan Soe Dan Street. I have to go from Oke Kyin bus-stop to Tha Khin Mya Park bus-stop. I have to transit at Tha Khin Mya Park bus-stop for Pan Soe Dan. It will cost 1,600 MMK for bus fares per day, according to the current increase amount as I have to transit to reach my workplace. Wages have not increased, but the commuting cost,” said a salesperson of a TV and Electronics Store at Pan Soe Dan Street.
