YANGON DIVISION- Some family members of the arrestees told the media that all the passengers on the domestic flight from Yangon to Sittwe were detained by the army and their whereabouts are still unknown.
At 9:35 a.m. on February 26, all the passengers on the domestic flight of Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) departing from Yangon to Sittwe were arrested by the Junta army at the Yangon airport.
“On February 26, my sister was among the passengers of the MNA flight. Many passengers were arrested by the military at Yangon airport. At around 10:00 a.m., while I was talking on the phone with my sister, she told me that the airport officials asked the passengers to turn off all the phones. Since then, contact has been lost. Around 6 p.m., I called her again. The call went in but there was no reply. I called her several times but was never answered. About half an hour later, the phone was turned off. It is not yet known where she was detained,” said the brother of one of the detainees.
Currently, the families are concerned about the security of those who were arrested by the army at Yangon Airport on February 26.
Lately, the Terrorist Junta Council has been constantly arresting passengers who will go through the air and land routes to Rakhine State.
