RAKHINE STATE – A navy ship of the terrorist junta council shelled the villages in Ramree Township and a civilian woman was killed as a result, reported the local news sources.
The terrorist junta navy ship anchored in the straits between Ramree Township and Mahnaung Township reportedly fired at least ten rounds of heavy artillery at the villages in Konebaung Prefecture of Ramree Township at around 8 a.m. on April 10.
Hit by those shells of the terrorist junta council, Ms. Aye Than Myint, a woman in her 40s from Ywartharyar Village died while Ms. Hlaing Hlaing Kyu, a woman in her 30s from Ponnyawaddy Village and at least four other civilians were injured.
“It happened in the morning. The heavy artillery shells landed and one was seriously wounded in the stomach and passed away from loss of blood at around 10:30 a.m. At least four more were injured,” said a local resident.
Ramree Township is under control of the Arakan Army and the terrorist junta council has recently bombarded the township from the air with fighter jets on March 30. A young child from Phatkyat Village was killed during said bombardment which also saw two more people injured and several buildings damaged.
From November 13, 2023 till March 21, 2024, 179 innocent civilians were killed in the conflicts in Rakhine State, 64 of whom were women, according to the April 4 statement by the Humanitarian and Development Coordination Office (HDCO) of the United Arakan League/ Arakan Army (ULA/AA).
