TANINTHARYI DIVISION- Local people said that the villagers from Kyauk Kanyar village in Yebyu township were said to be continuously abducted because the military lorry was attacked by mines near the village.
The junta’s members from No. 304 Missile and Artillery Unit based in Kyauk Kanyar village have been abducting many local people since May 24.
On May 29, at least two local villagers from Kyauk Kanyar village were said to have been abducted again.
“As junta forces rampaged in a village, the villagers dared not live in the village, and those who had also fled dared not return,” said a local resident.
Junta forces have been abducting 35 residents since May 24. Some have been released, but about 15 people are still held.
Half of the detainees are women, and some of the detainees are underage children who have been abducted because their fathers were not seen to be abducted, as said by the local people.
Moreover, some of the detainees have not been abducted before, but they went to the junta forces to exchange with the detainees, who are their family members.
Some of the shops in Kyauk Kanyar village were restricted by junta forces from trading.
