SAGAING DIVISION – The junta column that invaded western Ye U Township was blasted with mines and there were casualties, said Mr. Htoo Khant Zaw (Amaethar), the information officer of People’s Defence Comrade.
On Sunday (August 27), local People’s Defence Team and People’s Defence Force (PDF) jointly attacked the junta column that raised the villages in western Ye U, resulting in at least four junta casualties, said Mr. Htoo Khant Zaw (Amaethar).
Moreover, nearly 10,000 residents from Nyoteton, Motesi, Konegyi, Konetan, Nhawkone, Ywarmeittar, Zawa, Konetha Ywarthit, Chantha, Zeekone, Kyikone, Choneywar, Pauktaw and Masoeyein Villages are said to be fleeing due to said junta column.
“Junta infantry 71 column left Ye U Town and invaded the villages in western Ye U Township under cover of constant heavy artillery fire this morning (August 27). Villages had to flee. It’s the usual villages that have to flee,” said Mr. Htoo Khant Zaw (Amaethar).
Although the junta council recklessly shelled, it is not yet known if there were civilian casualties.
The reported junta column is then said to have left western Ye U and entered Tabayin Township that afternoon.
In Ye U Township, within the over two years of military coup, 3,429 houses from 51 villages have been destroyed by junta arson and over 20,000 civilians are said to be in need of assistance currently.
