SHAN STATE – A 30-year-old woman from Peyin Taung village, Ywa Ngan Township, Danu Autonomous Region, Southern Shan State, had suffered miscarriage after being abducted and interrogated by the junta council, according to people close to her.
It is said that the woman, who was fleeing the war since April 2022, was arrested in the evening of September 29th at her relative’s house in the Hsin Gaung Ward, Pindaya.
A man close to her said, “She was detained at Ywa Ngan police station. I don’t know how she was interrogated there. After she came back, she had miscarriage after bleeding. She was 3 months pregnant. The junta forces may have beaten her. There is no extortion,” he said.
He added that the woman was 30 years old and junta was trying to arrest her husband. But they didn’t find her husband so they arrested her. Then on September 30th, she was released at night and is currently receiving medical treatment at her home in Peyin Taung Village.
“The couple does not do politics. They have been avoiding war since the entire village was killed. The junta just got the news and came to arrest them. Last year, the junta caught all the men from their village and extorted money. They extorted as much as they could, 10, 50 or even 100 lakhs. After that, those 9 men were killed,” a local man added.
After 9 men from Peyin Taung village were arrested and killed by the junta council and Pyu Saw Hti, on April 22nd of 2022, more than 400 people of the entire village are still fleeing and need help.
After announcing the formation of the Danu People’s Liberation Front-DPLF on July 29th in the region, it is known that more than 50 people have been arrested in the Danu regions such as Pindaya, Ywa Ngan townships including Tha Si and Lawksawk.
