SHAN STATE – The junta council is reported to have detained two former military personnel in Ywangan Township of Danu self administered region in southern Shan State to send them to the frontlines.
Mr. Myo Tint and Mr. Aung Lin Oo from Kyaukngat Village in Ywangan Township were reportedly taken away by 15 junta troops on December 13.
“Both were Kyaukngat villagers. Mr. Aung Lin Oo deserted the army shortly after the coup while Mr. Myo Tint is a veteran who had left the army for 20 years,” explained a Ywangan resident.
Mr. Aung Lin Oo is said to be only 20 years old. He had joined the army just months before the military coup and fled to his native village of Kyaukngat after the coup to join CDM. This is the first time he was detained. It is not known which military division he was under previously.
Meanwhile, the military veteran Mr. Myo Tint is around 50 years old and he resigned from the army 20 years ago. This is the second time he was taken away by junta soldiers.
Although Mr. Myo Tint was released on December 16 after interrogation, Mr. Aung Lin Oo was said to have been sent to the frontlines, according to family members.
Due to the Danu self administered organisation working with the junta council, the residents of the region are being subjected to forced conscription by the junta council as well as its subordinate Pyu Saw Htee and PNO Pyithusit militia; arbitrary arrests; and extortions after the military coup.
