BAGO DIVISION – The Karen National Union (KNU) central released on Sunday (February 25) evening that a nine-year-old child was shot and killed by junta forces firing heavy weapons in Sawhti (Shwekyin) Township, Nyaunglebin District, KNU Brigade 3 controlled region.
It was stated that the junta council targeted the civilians in KNU controlled region including Nyaunglebin District and had been firing everyday. On February 13, three heavy weapons landed in Chone Inn Village and on February 23, junta fired 19 heavy weapons into Gway Kone Village and Chone Inn Village.
It was also said that on February 25, Nyaunglebin based junta light infantry battalion 20 fired two 120mm heavy weapons into Nyaung Pin Gyi Village.
In addition, Pain Za Lote based infantry battalion 264 fired 120mm heavy weapons into Kyauk Mae Thu Village, killing nine-year-old Saw Tet Toe.
The junta council has been targeting and attacking the regional villages because the controlled region of KNU Brigade 3 is a region with strong resistance against the junta regime. As a result, civilian casualties happen often and many civilians had to abscond.
