BAGO DIVISION – According to the locals, the junta forces dug and destroyed the Shwegyin – Kyaukkyi asphalt road with a backhoe near Shan Village, Shwegyin Township.
On August 20th, at around 5:00 p.m., the junta soldiers stationed near the Shan village dug 15-foot-wide and about 4 feet deep with a backhoe on the road and destroyed it.
“This road has been built since British colonial era. Now the junta destroyed as they were afraid their gates will be attacked. Now people are facing difficulties and it is not convenient to travel anymore. Because they destroyed it, no one dares to repair it,” said a local.
Locals from more than 20 villages, including Thayet Chuang, Kyaukpon Gate, San Pel, and Ingani are relying on this road segment to go to Shwegyin Township to sell local products.
Residents from more than 20 villages plant rubber, rice, beans, corn, and farm products are mainly sold in Shwegyin town, but because of the destruction, cars cannot pass and motorcycles have difficulty moving through the rubber farms near the destroyed road.
The place where the military council gate and the destroyed road are almost 1 mile away, and until now, no one has done any repairs.
Similarly on July 6, the military council also dug up and destroyed the 4 roads connecting villages that cross the Nyaonglaypin – Madok road from Pazun Myaung Village with the backhoes.
