GREAT BRITAIN – It is reported that a public protest will be held in London coming Saturday (August 5) to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the 8888 People’s Uprising.
The public protest is planned to begin in front of Parliament Square at 2:00 p.m., and the protestors will then march to the residence of the British Prime Minister on Downing Street and staged a protest there for about an hour, according to Revolutionary families in the UK.
It is also said that Mr. Kim, the son of Myanmar’s State Counsellor Aung San Su Kyi, and the revolutionary families in the UK would walk 26 miles to raise funds for the Spring Revolution.
Revolutionary families in the UK urge Myanmar people to join the protest to honor and respect those who have been in the revolution since 8888 until now and to show the British government and the international communities that Myanmar people are not cold-blooded and will never give in.
“This year, the 8888 Uprising Movement marked 35 years. The (real) Federal Democratic System that has been demanded since then is not in the people’s hands yet. However, it would soon be dawn (our time is coming). At this time, we need to show our strength and unity to power-thirsty Myanmar military as well as the international communities. I think everyone born in Myanmar can do this much. I hope Myanmar communities could join the commemoration of the 8888 Uprising in all parts of the world,” the UK revolutionary families urged.
