SOUTHERN SHAN STATE- On March 11th, the Pao Youth Association announced that 49 civilians died and 60 people were injured during the 49 days of firefights.
It was reported that there were 408 aerial bombardments and more than 1506 rounds of heavy artillery fire launched by junta troops during the clashes until March 9th, in Hsihseng, Hopong, and Loilin areas. It was also stated that twenty civilians were arrested, 96 buildings were damaged, and 89,278 people were displaced.
After more than 40 days of fighting in Southern Shan, the largest number of heavy weapon attacks took place between February 18 to 24, with more than 80 civilian homes destroyed, 17 civilian deaths, and 16 injuries reported.
There had been clashes in Hsihseng, Hopone, and Mong Pawn townships and among 89,287 IDPs in Shan, more than 23,000 were Karenni refugees who fled to the Shan Mountain region.
