SHAN STATE – According to the information from the Kachin News Source, there were many casualties on the junta side due to misfire of airstrikes on their own troops in Kutkai Township, Shan (North) State.
The junta council was said to have conducted the airstrike onto Kutkai Township where there have been intense battles between Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and the junta council in previous days, on Thursday (August 31) at around 2:44 p.m., without having any battles.
“There was the mistaken airborne attack on their own troops by the junta council at Eain Lun mountain in Kutkai Township, Shan (North) State and that caused many casualties on the junta side. It seemed like they planned to bomb the TNLA forces but wrongly dropped the bombs at the wrong map location and ended up landing on their forces,” the news source said.
Over 20 junta forces were estimated to have been killed due to the stated wrong airborne attack of the junta air force.
The assaulted location is known to be part of the military operation territory of Brigade 9 from Kachin Independence Army (KIA).
“Junta wrongly firing own troops happened at the area of Brigade 9,” another news sources confirmed the junta council’s friendly fire.
TNLA’s news department could not be contacted currently to inquire about the military situation happening in the region.
However, TNLA has previously notified that there were over 20 battles encountered between TNLA and the junta council in Shan (North) Region including Kutkai Township in August and the battles have remained intense in Kutkai and Muse on August 30.
