SHAN- KARENNI BORDER- People’s Defense Force (PDF) members stated that there are ongoing battles against the junta troops at the Southern Shan State (Pinlaung and Pekon Townships) and the border areas, and the junta’s scouting aircraft are reportedly flying over the areas.
From February 24 until May 14, the clashes are still going on and junta regime forces have been opening heavy artillery fire and aerial bombing in Southern Shan State and Shan-Karenni border for almost three months.
“These days when it is raining due to the storm, only the scouting aircraft are wandering around our areas. Not long after scouting the area, junta jets came in for aerial bombing. There are also some clashes recently,” said a Karenni PDF member.
Recently on May 10, due to the junta’s aerial bombing, five PDF members were reportedly injured, stated the Medic Unit-Demoso.
“The aerial raid was three days ago. The junta aircraft flew and scouted for almost all day and started bombing the area all evening. Five PDF members were injured. We gave them our best primary treatment and transferred them to a hospital. They are currently treated at the hospital,” said a spokesperson of Medic Unit-Demoso.
It was reported that a PDF member received shrapnel injuries all over his body and four others received blast-related injuries (hit the ground on the chest).
There weren’t enough ambulances to transport the injured PDFs. Thus some were transported in VIGO (pickup) trucks and reported suffering more discomfort and pain on the way, according to Medic Unit-Demoso.
Lately, due to the storm (Mocha Cyclone), it has been raining for a few days. Rainproof shelters and tents are not enough due to sudden rain and needing to change locations frequently to evade the junta scouting aircraft, according to the PDF support groups.
According to PKPF (Progressive Karenni People Force) statement issued on May 1, there had been 663 clashes in the Shan-Karenni border and 363 aerial bombings by the junta regime.
