SHAN-KARENNI BORDER – Large numbers of locals and displaced people at an area in the Shan-Karenni Border have fallen ill and require emergency help for medicine, reported healthcare groups.
Pekhon Health Community (PKHC) team said that they are providing healthcare to two villages where nearly the entire village has fallen ill as it is the change of seasons, four IDP camps and two schools.
“While the rescue team is carrying out rescue operations in the frontlines, the reserve team in the rearlines is also providing healthcare to a village that needs to be travelled on foot for eight hours as there are a lot of sick cases. We had to go on a four days three nights trip to visit four villages. We are just glad that it served as an encouragement to them (villagers),” said a responsible person from PKHC team.
The state’s region is rarely visited by medic teams and is a region where it’s difficult to receive sufficient healthcare. PKHC said that it has provided necessary healthcare and shared knowledge on healthcare.
“There are also patients who require treatment that are transferred to hospitals and clinics. We would like to request for more contributions for other necessary areas,” said the responsible person from PKHC team, stating that even though PKHC medic team is providing the best healthcare they can with available medicine, there are still lacking areas.
The PKHC medic team was formed after the military coup by CDM medical professionals and revolutionary youths and has been providing various healthcare services including childbirth.
