KARENNI STATE – Karenni Army (KA) Adjutant General Colonel Bone Naing said that more than 40 junta soldiers were killed and four were captured alive when they attacked the military column that murdered six civilians including one pregnant mother and three children in Shartaw on their way to reinforce the military strategic hill in Shartaw Township.
On February 5, the 249th Infantry Battalion based in Mongping Township sent 64 reinforcement troops in three helicopters, and the KA troops ambushed and attacked them. The military council soldiers split into two or three groups and ran away. Those terrorist soldiers kidnapped and then killed six people staying in the jungle after fleeing the war: three children under the age of 10 and three women, including a pregnant woman.
It is said that more than 40 junta soldiers who committed the murder were killed and four were captured alive and that the remaining soldiers are being chased.
“Currently, we are still chasing them. More than 40 of them have been eliminated. I think there were 64 of them. More than 40 have died. There should be only 15 or 12 left. We are still going after the rest of them. Three or four of them were captured yesterday (February 7). We will go after the rest of them,” said KA Adjutant General Colonel Bone Naing.
The strategic hill of the terrorist military council in Shartaw Township is surrounded and the soldiers of the junta council cannot go outside and are said to be running out of water and ammunition.
“There’s a brick wall around the military strategic hill, so we haven’t been able to get it yet. But they are already thirsty and they don’t have any more bullets. Our side surrounded them,” explained Colonel Bone Naing.
