SAGAING DIVISION – Local sources have reported that the junta council issued an order for residents within a 100 ft radius of Sheinmakar Police Station in eastern Wetlet Township of Shwebo District to evacuate their homes.
There are over 50 houses in the vicinity of Sheinmakar Police Station, and on August 2, around 4 p.m., the police station chief and a junta army officer demanded the immediate eviction of residents from approximately 25 houses.
“They threatened the residents with eviction due to rumors that defense forces were planning an attack. As a result, some residents in the vicinity of the police station had to move out,” said an official from Wetlet Information Network.
Previously, in May, the Station Chief of Sheinmakar Police Station had drunkenly ordered villagers to leave the village overnight, around 2 a.m.
Furthermore, some of the junta forces stationed at that police station had set up a checkpoint at the intersection leading to the village school. They were inspecting passersby and also blocking entry into the village.
On July 23, the junta forces at Sheinmakar Police Station fired 60mm shells into the surroundings, causing damage to Dhamma Paragu Monastery in the north of the village and also injuring two cattle.”
