MANDALAY DIVISION – Pyin Oo Lwin has been attacked with shock missiles starting 9:17 p.m. on Sunday (April 14). The missiles targeted the Defense Service Academy (DSA) and there were also explosions around the junta related buildings near Kandawgyi where junta leader Min Aung Hlaing could be staying.
Then at around 9:45 p.m., military vehicles and tanks came out of the military bases in Pyin Oo Lwin and the electricity was also cut off in the whole city.
As the shock missile attacks continued, the junta forces also opened fire aimlessly.
It is said that the situation is pure chaos inside Pyin Oo Lwin DSA as the cadets and soldiers are running around wildly and picking up arms due to the missiles exploding in the premises.
According to reports in the media, there were at least 30 shock missiles fired: three at 9:17 p.m., four at 9:19 p.m., four more at 9:27 p.m., two at 9:32 p.m., another two at 9:42 p.m., four at 9:47 p.m., two at 9:48 p.m., three at 10 p.m., four at 10:04 p.m. and two at 10:08 p.m. while the junta forces started their return fire with heavy and small weapons at 10:45 p.m.
The music shows in Nanmyaing Hotel were also said to have been brought to a halt by the missile attacks as the people fled in horror.
It is said that ambulances and military vehicles were roaming all over the city that night.
Meanwhile residents of Pyin Oo Lwin mocked that Min Aung Hlaing who came to spend the Thingyan festival in Pyin Oo Lwin must have gone into a bunker to hide.
