SOUTHERN SHAN STATE- A member of Shan State People’s Defense Force Battalion-1005 (SSPDF) was seriously injured by a landmine and needed help, according to revolutionary news sources.
During the frontline battles in Loikaw town, he was injured and the battalion is arranging to get prosthetic legs for him, and needing financial assistance.
An SSPDF information officer said, “He is often sulky if he can’t fight in the front-line. He was shot on the back in the previous battle. It was 79 bullet wound. Since then, we told him to take rest but he met the commander and insisting on going to the battles or be a monk. He was really enthusiastic and I’m sorry this had happened to him. I want to help him get a prosthetic leg.”
The injured PDF member is 33-year-old Comrade Gwato, who has served in the battalion for more than 2 years.
It is said that Comrade Gwato has recently undergone successful surgery and it is not yet known where he will be assigned for the rehabilitation period.
This is the first time the SSPDF battalion member experienced the loss of body parts. A soldier had reportedly fallen during a test firing of self-production of a heavy weapon, according to team officials.
Southern Shan State-based SSPDF 1005 and SSRY 1008 battalions are two battalions under the Ministry of Defense (MOD) of the National Unity Government (NUG) and have military cooperation with local allied forces.
