KARENNI STATE – Loikaw Market Burnt Down by Junta Artillery Shells on Sunday, December 10th. The junta forces continuously fired heavy artillery shells at Loikaw Downtown, resulting in the burning down of Loikaw South Market (Thiri Mingalar Market) on Sunday (December 10). The market was set ablaze around 2:30 a.m., following heavy artillery fire that began at midnight, and by 6:30 a.m., nearly the entire market had been reduced to ashes.
Residents, including a witness who evacuated Loikaw, reported the complete destruction of the market, a central hub for the community. Despite being known as the biggest market in Karenni, recognized as Loikaw South Market or Thiri Mingalar Market, the devastating impact extends beyond economic loss, with half of the city now in ruins.
In a parallel development, Revolutionary Youths engaged in the 11.11 operation are striving to capture Loikaw. Reports suggest they have gained control over some residential wards, although verification remains elusive. The junta forces, having lost control of the region, respond by persistently firing heavy artillery shells and conducting airstrikes on residential areas.
